Frequent but not all questions asked

For what occasions are great to book a picnic-scape?

As we have a vast variety of themes, A Blanket & A Basket can create a picnic-scape for baby reveals, bachelorette parties, anniversaries, marriage proposals, prom-posals, birthday parties, date nights, girls’ brunch/day/night out, memorials and more. You can be as creative as we are!

How do I book?

Once you have decided on a picnic-scape, simply email lizanne@ablanketandabasket.com  your booking request form, which will include your preferred theme, event date, time, location and the number of guests. We will respond to you within 72 hours. Once we iron out all the details, an invoice will be sent to you and you will submit a 50% deposit and your event is secured! The balance of payment is due 3 days before your picnic.

How far in advance do I need to book?

We typically require a minimum of two weeks’ notice for a booking (especially with food), however, please note that our calendar fills up quickly and therefore an early booking is recommended. Depending on availability, we may be able to accommodate last minute bookings. Just email us and see!

Is there a deposit required to secure my date?

A non-refundable payment of 50% is required to secure a date.

Full Payment is due 3 days prior to your scheduled picnic date.

The event set up will not occur without full payment prior to scheduled event.

By scheduling a picnic and submitting a payment along with the signed contract agreement, you understand and agree to the terms and conditions of our company.

What forms of payment are accepted?

A Blanket & A Basket currently accepts credit cards via Square

Are there specific locations for your picnic-scapes?

Our picnics can be set up in Delaware County and surrounding areas, whether it be at a private location such as in your home or backyard or a public location such as a state or local park. We are also willing to take a trip to the Jersey shore (Atlantic & Cape May Counties). Just be aware that many state, local, and beach towns require permits and have various restrictions. Please check with the location desired (links provided on resource page) regarding rules and regulations and who to contact for permits. Please note that the price of your permit is not included in our pricing as you need to obtain the permit yourself (see next question). Also, if you fail to get a permit and one is required, you will be held liable for any additional fines/penalties that our company incurs. That all sounds horrible (unless you have bail money!) so do what you need to do so we all can have fun!

Am I responsible for permits, fees, and the rules and regulations for my desired location?

Yes. To help make this process easier for you, we have provided links to many of the county and local parks on our resource page. Many towns require permits and some even prohibit purchased picnics such as ours (booooo). Please check and make sure you comply with the rules and regulations before you decide to purchase a picnic. Remember your back yard can be a special place too as your house, your rules!

Do your picnic settings include food?

While we do have a little snack food you can purchase through our add-on page, we are now proud to share that we have paired with two well established food vendors to provide food for your picnic. You can check these out on the website! Also, you are also encouraged to explore our preferred vendor page to add a variety of delicious selections to enhance your picnic!

As everyone has preferred tastes, and some even have allergies, we felt it was best for the customer to customize the food and drink to their hearts and bellies content!

Also…Please note:

ABAB created fun add-ons and preferred vendors for your personal enjoyment. This does not mean all areas you choose to have your picnic may allow items such as balloons or open flame (we do have a small sterno-like device for s’mores). Having a picnic in your back yard, yes. A beach, perhaps not. It is your responsibility to know all rules, regulations, and restrictions for the area you choose to have your picnic-scape. Please refer to the resource page to begin your search.

Can I have alcohol at my picnic?

Each venue has different rules and regulations. The beach areas have an extremely strict no alcohol policy. Before opting to pack some for your picnic, we highly recommend you check the rules regulations in your desired area.

Remember: we want you to have many more picnics with us, so please drink responsibly.

What is your maximum number of guests I can have?

We can accommodate up to 18 people at any one time if all the necessary equipment is available when you desire your picnic.

Can we extend our time as to enjoy the picnic-scape longer?

Yes, we are happy to allow you to use the picnic-scape for a longer period if availability permits, so this must be arranged in advance. Please note that a fee of $30 per ½ hour is charged and a total of 1 hour may be added.

What if I wish to add a few more guests?

Guest numbers may be increased at any time up until 14 days prior to the scheduled picnic date subject to equipment availability. It is best to get your group together and book early so everyone can join in the fun!

What happens if I am late?

Please notify us as soon as you can. We want you to arrive safely, but we also may need to get to the next venue to set up. Therefore, our ability to wait may be limited. Unfortunately, if you are greater than 30 minutes late, due to scheduling constraints, we will need to cancel your event and you will forfeit both the picnic and all monies.

This will stink, so please make every effort to get there!

Can we leave whenever we want?

We realize emergencies can happen. Please be aware that you are responsible for the picnic-scape, setup, and equipment until we return to pack them up at the arranged time. If you would need to leave earlier than the agreed time, please provide us a 30 min notice via phone call. Just know that there are no refunds for unused time.

Please note that refunds are not available for services provided but not utilized by the customers so eat your snacks and play the darn games!

What if I need to cancel?

We realize emergencies in life happen. We aim to be as flexible as possible for our guests. Therefore, we ask that you just reach out to us at least 72 hours in advance and we will work with you to reschedule your picnic.

With that said, and we hate to share unwelcome news while you are planning fun but….as we have many bookings, the 50% deposit is non-refundable as we have held your date and may have turned down other events to do so. If you need to cancel, we will do our best to reschedule within 6 months from the original date. If we cannot accommodate you and you have canceled at least 72 hours prior to your scheduled picnic, we will refund the final payment amount (50%). If you cancel within 72 hours, please note that you will forfeit all your monies.

Once the picnic is set up, we cannot cancel or reschedule.

Please book carefully as we do not provide refunds due to change of mind.

The company reserves the right to cancel the booking on reasonable grounds within any period leading up to the event. In the event this occurs, the customer will be refunded in full with the exception of where the customer has failed to fulfill their obligations within these terms & conditions.

In the case of poor weather, your event may be re-scheduled to another date; please see below.

What about inclement weather?

Rain, rain go away…we want to go outside and lay…on the blanket! As sunshine is not always guaranteed, and inclement weather occurs, cancellations due to weather may occur at the discretion of A Blanket & A Basket. We will make every effort to reschedule your picnic as soon as possible pending availability. If we are not able to do so within a reasonable time, a full refund will be given.

Are the picnic-scapes and all the accoutrements disinfected between use?

Absolutely, as the safety and health of you and your guests is our priority. We make sure to properly wash and disinfect all napkins, pillowcases/ inserts, blankets, and throws. We also wipe down all hard surfaces. The plates, glasses and silverware are washed in hot temperature (sani) water (dishwasher).

What we ask of you

Grass set-ups: While there is nothing better than a traditional grass setting picnic, we just ask that if in your back yard that all animal waste is cleaned up before we set up. Scoop the poop people!

Also, we ask that no smoking of any kind of a thing-a-ding be done around our setting as smoke permeates the material easily. If the larger ground covers and pillows require professional cleaning, a fee may be charged. Yup! So, now may be a great time to quit!! End of lecture.

Beach set-ups: Our beach picnics can be so much fun, but sometimes it can get hot! While we realize you may need to take a dip, we just ask that you do not drip! Make sure you are thoroughly dry before sitting on our pillows and poofs as they are not waterproof.

More unwelcome news! In the event that the Company incurs or suffers any loss, costs, or damages because of the Customer’s failure to conduct its obligations under these terms, the Customer shall be solely responsible and shall indemnify the Company for any such loss, costs, or damages.
